Description

To lead and drive the Learning and Development (L&D) strategy, ensuring we inspire, develop, and retain talent across the business. This role is hands-on and responsible for designing and implementing training initiatives with the main focus being Leadership while also supporting wider HR functions when necessary. As part of a small HR team, you will play a key role in fostering a culture of continuous growth and supporting the overall employee experience. A key part of this role will involve developing behaviour frameworks aligned with company values to help shape and embed the right culture across the organisation.

Some day to day tasks will include,



  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with internal departments to understand business priorities, assess team/individual needs, and translate these insights into a robust training and development roadmap.


  • Design & Delivery: Develop and deliver effective, engaging training programs with a strong focus on upskilling people managers and fostering leadership at all levels.


  • Culture & Values Alignment: Build and implement behaviour frameworks linked to company values. Support the business in embedding these frameworks to promote the desired culture and drive consistent behaviours across all levels.


  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders and support managers in identifying the best training solutions to drive performance and growth.


  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Embed DEI initiatives into all leadership and development pathways to promote a more inclusive workforce.


  • Onboarding & Induction: Review and enhance onboarding and induction processes to ensure a seamless, engaging employee journey from day one.


  • Training Needs Analysis (TNA): Partner with senior leadership to conduct TNAs and implement structured development plans across departments.


  • Apprenticeships & External Partnerships: Manage apprenticeship programs and build relationships with colleges, training providers, and funding bodies to maximise external financial support and ensure alignment with business needs.


  • Blended Learning: Drive innovation in L&D by introducing blended learning approaches, incorporating digital, face-to-face, and experiential learning.


  • Compliance & Qualifications: Oversee departmental qualifications, ensuring compliance and tracking progress across teams.


  • Online Learning Management: Manage and develop content for the internal LMS, promoting engagement, tracking completion, and expanding available resources.


  • Measuring Success: Establish clear metrics to assess L&D effectiveness, track ROI, and proactively adjust programs to meet evolving business needs.


  • HR Support: Step in to support employee relations (ER) cases and general HR functions as needed, ensuring seamless collaboration within the HR team.





We would love someone with…

Essential:

  • Experience in an in-house Learning and Development role with the freedom to take initiative and make decisions.

  • Proven experience designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs at all organisational levels, with a strong focus on leadership and management development.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and embedding behaviour frameworks aligned with company values to drive culture change.

  • Solid understanding of NVQ/Apprenticeship programs and effective use of the Apprenticeship Levy.

  • Hands-on experience conducting TNAs and creating tailored development solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to build impactful and measurable L&D programs that align with business objectives.

  • Strong commercial acumen with a focus on measuring L&D performance and ROI.

  • Excellent consulting and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across the business.


Desired:

  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience/qualifications.

  • Experience working in a small HR team with exposure to employee relations and HR processes.
