NHBC is seeking four dedicated and enthusiastic Learning and Skills Coordinator Apprentices to join our team.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Learning and Skills Co-ordinator with the NHBC Commercial Training team, the role will play a crucial role in supporting and guiding apprentices/trainees through their learning journey. Working closely with learners and trainers to ensure they develop the necessary skills, knowledge, behaviours, and experience to succeed in their roles. This role requires a blend of coaching, mentoring, record-keeping and excellent communication skills.

Being a job role that involves coaching others, this opportunity in return offers personal training and development for you to obtain a professional qualification as a Learning and Skills Mentor, via the apprenticeship route working in partnership with a leading qualification training body. The Learning & Skills Mentor qualification is Level 4 which is equivalent to a foundation degree or CertHE and is a 12-month programme, with a 3-month End Point Assessment Period.

Including, but not limited to, the following criteria’s

  • Mentorship and Guidance Provide one-on-one and group mentorship to Apprentices / Trainees, helping them to understand and apply industry-specific knowledge and skills.
  • Curriculum Support Assist in the development and delivery of the curriculum, ensuring it meets industry standards and the needs of the apprentices or trainees. To assist the Commercial training team in the development of materials for internal and external customers.
  • Skills Development Work with apprentices and trainees to develop practical skills through hands-on activities, real-world scenarios, and site visits. To act as support to the lead trainer for the Trainee cohorts.
  • Progress Monitoring Track and evaluate the progress of each apprentice or trainee, providing regular feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Problem-Solving Address and resolve any issues or challenges that may arise during the programmes.
  • Project work Assist with any other project work relating the improvement to training programs ensuring that brand guidelines and internal technical compliance procedures are followed.


The ideal candidate will have

  • Evidence of good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to help individuals reach their full potential while supporting both the Commercial Services team and other business functions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring all compliance requirements are meticulously followed and adhered to.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for training and mentoring purposes. As to experience across IT. Systems using Microsoft Office, Outlook and others.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
  • Positive attitude with a focus on patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals. As to build rapport across organisational departments and supplier networks.
  • An appreciation of Apprenticeship and learning programmes, advantage to know how they work, and different requirements.
  • Advantage to have, not necessary knowledge or experience of the home building sector, and relevant health and safety regulations desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written English language communication skills.
  • Individuals must be willing to travel, role requires frequent travel to Milton Keynes office.
  • Advantage to hold a current U.K. Driving Licence or in the process of obtaining one in 6 months, travel will be expected in this role.


Education And Qualifications

  • Minimum GCSE Maths and English qualification grade 2 and above (equivalent to grade C, proof of grading will be required).
  • Advantage to have some form of coaching and training experience, but not essential.
  • To qualify, individuals must reside in mainland England and possess the UK Right to Work, as required by the NHBC's partner qualifications body.
  • NOTE NHBC do not provide sponsorship, student visa or short-term visa's do not qualify.
