As a Legal & Business Affairs Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting multiple frontline labels and their diverse rosters, all while working closely with two Legal & Business Affairs Directors. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with A&R, Legal, and Marketing Executives at all levels, providing guidance and support to a wide range of artists and projects. This is a great role for someone who enjoys navigating the complexities of the music industry in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and who thrives in a hands-on, collaborative setting.
What you'll do:
- Negotiate and conclude various talent and licence agreements, often involving multiple stakeholders (to include recording agreements, guest-artist agreements, producer agreements, sample agreements, sponsorships and consultancy agreements.)
- Providing accurate and timely legal and commercial advice to executives on proposed arrangements and existing agreements.
- Pro-actively evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations.
- Build effective relationships within your assigned frontline label and Sony Music UK and its international partners. Communicate with external parties (lawyers, managers, record labels, publishers) in a manner to create positive relationships.
- Provide clarification on the law and legal language to all levels in the organisation.
- Provide an understanding of the influences of external environment and legal changes on the recorded music industry.
Who you are:
- A qualified Solicitor with excellent knowledge and understanding of the law, procedures and structures of the recorded music industry.
- High degree of professional integrity with sound judgement coupled with the capacity to analyse relationships and situations and deliver accordingly.
- Ability to successfully work independently, prioritise and manage a varied workload arriving from multiple sources.
- You are a keen problem solver who values attention to detail and has an organised working style.
- An effective and confident communicator who can work with people across different teams and levels, keeping things clear and easy to understand.
- You should be comfortable adjusting to change and ideally have experience working in a creative environment
