Description
We are Creditspring, a new way of borrowing that focuses on its members and provides them with safe and efficient short-term financial products.

We're a fast-growing FCA-regulated consumer credit company. We have members, not customers and we take a lot of pride in that!

As one of the UK’s only subscription finance company in the market, we truly have a unique value proposition. Our mission is very clear; to improve the financial stability and resilience of our members. We do this through the products we provide, the partnerships we have, and our educational content. We want our members, and everyone in the UK to be able to better manage their finances and steer them away from high-cost, unregulated credit options.

About The Role

We are seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to support our business on a wide range of legal matters, with a particular focus on commercial contracts and data protection. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will play a key role in providing pragmatic and strategic legal advice across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including supplier and partnership agreements.
  • Advise on data protection compliance, including GDPR and UK data protection law, supporting the business with its privacy notices, data sharing agreements, and data protection impact assessments.
  • Provide day-to-day legal support across the company, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
  • Assist in developing and improving internal legal processes, policies, and contract templates.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including compliance, operations and marketing teams, to ensure legal considerations are embedded in business decisions.
  • Support the paralegal in the team and share supervision of their work.

What You'll Need To Succeed

  • UK-qualified solicitor with 1-2 years PQE, ideally with in-house experience in financial services (but not essential). PQE is a guide only and we will consider applications from candidates outside of the suggested bracket.
  • Strong experience in commercial contracts and data protection matters.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and deliver pragmatic, commercially focused advice.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • A proactive, initiative-taking, solution-oriented mindset with strong stakeholder management skills.

Don’t meet all the listed requirements? Research shows that women and people of underrepresented groups often don't apply for jobs unless they're 100% qualified. As an equal opportunities employer, we know that diversity is a key part of our teams' successes - so if your experience doesn’t fit perfectly but this role excites you, we’d love for you to apply. We’re committed to Creditspring being an inclusive environment where employees feel welcomed, valued and listened to; we want you to thrive as your true self.
