This role will be in the Leveraged Syndicate team based in London. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping to build out the syndicate function, supporting the syndication process for Leveraged Finance, and working closely with internal teams and external clients to facilitate successful deals. The role will report to the Head of Leveraged Finance Syndicate EMEA
About the role
Key responsibilities
- Support the Syndicate team in their daily activity including inter alia
i) preparation of Loan Underwriting Assessments.
ii) liquidity analyses & breakeven analyses.
iii) loan comparable database maintenance.
iv) loan market reviews.
v) underwriting monitoring.
vi) preparing weekly pitch materials.
vii) tracking syndication progress and managing data rooms.
- Provide market updates to Origination and Coverage teams.
- Monitor market trends and developments in the Leveraged Finance market to help to enhance decision-making processes for the team.
- Collaborate with the risk management team to assess and mitigate potential risks associated with loan underwriting.
- Internally, build and maintain relationships with Origination, Industry teams and Risk, and externally, with other syndicate desks, and the Buyside.
- Flexibility in occasionally helping other syndicate functions (e.g. Project Finance) in London when required
Desired Experience / Background
- 1-3 years of experience in the loan markets, sales and trading, or similar roles. Leveraged Finance experience preferred but not a prerequisite. Nonetheless, recent graduates are still encouraged to apply.
- Strong analytical skills, familiarity with credit analysis. Any experience in financial modelling is a plus.
- Good understanding of macro-economic and credit market dynamics.
- Strong Excel, Power Point skills, and Word skills, and relevant financial analysis software ( e.g Bloomberg, Capital IQ etc).
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance. Economics, Business or related field.
Languages and technical knowledge
- Fluency in English (oral and written).
- Proficiency/intermediate level in Spanish helpful, but not prerequisite.
Soft skills
- Highly motivated with demonstrable interest in being part of building up a desk.
- Well-organized individual with high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Team player but also comfortable working independently with limited supervision when needed.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal skills.
