Role Overview
The M&A Analyst will work collaboratively with colleagues to provide advice and build relationships with existing and potential clients concerning general corporate finance matters. This includes a range of activities such as disposals, acquisitions, fundraisings, and mergers.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management:
- Assist in maintaining and further developing relationships with existing clients.
- Proposal Preparation:
- Prepare client proposals and pitches for new business opportunities.
- Transaction Execution:
- Support the client team in the successful execution of transactions for clients and potential clients, including the preparation and review of transaction documentation.
- Effective Communication:
- Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues as required.
- Business Development:
- Learn how to develop, market, and sell new business ideas to clients or potential clients.
- Identify, target, and win new clients.
- Market Knowledge:
- Maintain up-to-date sector knowledge and commercial awareness.
- Understand Investec’s broader capabilities.
- CRM Management:
- Ensure communications with clients, intermediaries, and business contacts are appropriately captured in the CRM system.
Core Skills and Knowledge
- Regulatory Knowledge:
- Detailed, up-to-date knowledge of all applicable rules and regulations, including FCA guidelines (e.g., FCA, AIM, City Code on Takeovers).
- Integrity:
- Commitment to acting with integrity at all times and embracing the philosophy of treating clients fairly.
- Market and Technical Knowledge:
- Ability to develop and build relevant market, sector, and technical knowledge.
- Financial Analysis Skills:
- Strong understanding and preparation of financial analysis, valuation, and modelling techniques.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Competent knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, and presentation solutions.
- Ability to effectively interact with internal and external clients for business generation and execution.
