Starting Salary - £15,000

Minimum Entry Criteria – You’ll need at least four GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths, English and a relevant scientific/technical subject at C/4 or above.

This will be suited to you if…

You’re looking for a hands-on role which will grow into a career that’ll allow you to make your mark in a field you’re committed to.

What does the Machinist Technician Apprenticeship Scheme involve day to day?

Skilled machinists create precision parts which are then used on a daily basis, across the world, in almost everything you see. As well as learning the fundamentals of engineering theory and manufacturing processes, you will gain experience in using manual machines and computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools to cut, drill and finish components.

What could I be doing?

  • Applying risk assessment and hazard identification processes and procedures in the work area.
  • Working out the most efficient order to carry out machining tasks
  • Choosing the right cutting tools for each stage
  • Checking the work meets quality and technical standards
  • Applying continuous improvement techniques. Devise suggestions for improvement.
  • Maintaining the equipment, you operate and your work area

What comes next?

  • We’ll be shortlisting and sending out links to our online assessments in November/December 2024.
  • Through December 2024 to February 2025, if you've been shortlisted following your online assessment you will be sent an invite to one of our in-person Assessment Centres.
  • In-person Assessment Centres will take place from January to April 2025.
  • We aim to call all candidates whether successful or unsuccessful a few weeks after the Assessment Centre has taken place.
  • All of our apprentices and graduates will start their exciting journeys with a full induction week in September 2025!
