Role Overview

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this is a diverse and challenging role. The role is hands-on role involving all aspects of the finance function. With full responsibility of producing the Management accounts, assisting with statutory accounts and managing the sub ledger teams. The role also is responsible for maintaining the manufacturing standard costs and inventory valuation. This involves delivering to tight deadlines within a fast-paced corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible to produce the monthly management accounts package within required group deadlines, with full variance analysis for finance and non-finance personnel
  • Responsible for general ledger journals and full balance sheet reconciliations
  • Analysing Financial Results and reporting the findings to the Financial Controller or Director
  • Complete monthly actuals vs budget reporting, meeting with each budget holder to discuss performance and revise forecasts
  • Deputise for the Financial Controller
  • Day to day oversight of ledger functions processes to ensure integrity of general ledger transactions and supporting tasks
  • Project reporting & Control of Fixed Assets
  • Assisting with the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting
  • To liaise with internal auditors and control onsite audits
  • Treasury Management and banking responsibilities
  • Reviewing and updating finance KPI’s and leading metrics
  • Maintain/implement financial/costing policies and procedures
  • Provide monthly analysis or cost of sales, manufacturing and margin variances
  • Maintain the businesses standard costing system ensuring inventory valuation accuracy
  • Responsible for annual standard cost roll and financial control of annual inventory count
  • Involvement with new product introduction and bill of material review/release
  • Delivering process improvements within finance with a focus on automation, and assist other departments to make efficiencies in processes
  • Drive improvement in internal control by identifying and closing gaps

Level Of Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Hold a recognised accounting qualification / preferred CIMA/ACCA
  • Excellent Data analysis skills using complex formulas and data analysis sets
  • Excellent system interrogation skills
  • Knowledge of IFRS, US/UK GAAP reporting
  • Experience within a corporate reporting role

Experience

  • 5+ years of manufacturing finance experience
  • Delivering financials within a corporate environment to strict deadlines
  • Experience of monthly production of Management accounts, variance analysis and commentary for both finance and non-finance leaders
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles
  • Reporting and driving KPI’s
  • Proven track record of process improvement
  • People Management including team development

Skills & Competencies

  • Be able to adapt to a changing challenging environment with changing deliverables
  • Good Numeracy, literacy, and accuracy skills along with excellent attention to detail
  • Good organsational skills with the ability to quickly re-prioritise workload due to shifting requirements
  • A manager who leads by example with a proven track record in coaching, developing and performance management
  • Ability to anticipate/find and close out problems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a good understanding of external and internal customer requirements
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) will be essential to undertake the role successfully as the role will involve extensive liaison with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Flexible and self-motivated attitude towards work
  • Willingness to undertake cross training as required, adaptable and open to change
