About the Role:
A seasoned product owner/manager to be responsible for a suite of technology capabilities and products to deliver on specific business needs. Manages a small team of Product Owners and engages with key stakeholders to align priorities, remove roadblocks, and secure resources and/or product(s). Accountable for outcomes and key KPIs tied directly to business objectives. Responsible for articulating and translating the overall business vision into strategy and tactics for specific journeys and/or product(s). Responsible for overseeing products and ensuring product teams are appropriately resourced, focused on the key priorities, and aligned between roadmaps to achieve portfolio/channel objectives.
About the Department & Team:
In the office of Business Agility, we deliver solutions through agile practices that drive business outcomes that align to our greater Global Risk Solutions goals. Within the Distribution domain, our solutions help to create carrier preference from our broking partners & clients and enable internal efficiency for critical decision making on new risk submissions. In partnership with GRS Technology, Business Agility executes a digital strategy that balances and prioritizes business objectives with technology investments to anticipate clients’ and partners’ needs and provide our teams with the insights they need to make winning decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Directly manages a small team of Product owners/ Associate Product Owners responsible for all aspects of customer journey/product lifecycles.
• May also act as a Product Owner for a squad. Participates in providing feedback, support, and coaching in sprint-and-release plans together with Scrum Master.
• Manages delivery of scope, partners with delivery teams to ensure user stories are clear, and resolves open issues/questions quickly and efficiently.
• Acts as the `voice of the customer.
• Leads the analysis of feasibility, cost ramifications, economies, or other aspects of planned or potential programs. Approves final stories and approves completed user features or series of features.
• Sets ambitious and clear channel strategy, develops comprehensive product vision, and translates into specific feature strategies and roadmaps for less complex journeys and/or product(s). Responsible for business results of the related customer journeys or products measured by relevant KPIs.
• Responsible for communicating the product vision effectively to key stakeholders and team members.
• Works closely with IT and other Business Unit counterparts to ensure resource alignment to support product vision and roadmaps.
• Ensures customer-driven design considering user pain points and usability test results while using market industry knowledge to deliver a well-positioned product.
• Owns alignment of development and business resources on goals and priorities while working with stakeholders and team to remove roadblocks to execution.
Skills and Experience:
• Advanced knowledge of Agile development methodologies as typically acquired through a Bachelor`s degree in a relevant field (business, computer science, etc.) and at least seven years of experience in business, engineering, technology, and/or consulting. Master`s degree preferred.
• High level of proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities for product and understand business value impacts.
• Technical proficiency required to participate in sprint planning and have an informed, independent voice.
• Strong influencing skills to be seen as the decision maker when interfacing with business, and willingness to dissent with both teams and business.
• Proven experience with Agile practices and expectations. Comfortable with making decisions with some level of uncertainty.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
