We are looking for an enthusiastic Ward Manager to work in our purpose built, state of the art 8 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for young people in the Thames Valley. The PICU will be part of a system of mental health care for young people which comprises both community and inpatient provision. The PICU will provide a range of specialist treatment approaches based on attachment theory and Positive Behaviour Support.

The PICU Ward Manager along with the Clinical Nurse Lead will be responsible for effective operational management, organisation and delivery of high-quality nursing care within the unit. Clinical leadership skills are a crucial component for the role which will include some shift working to support with effective role modelling and development of the nursing team.

The successful candidate will need to be an experienced, highly skilled, and motivated registered mental health nurse, who demonstrates excellent communication skills, and who is able to support and lead a team of staff, whilst working closely with the senior leadership team to manage the challenges of the environment and support the patients within our care.

The Unit is committed to development of the staff team and the successful candidate will have opportunities for training including Masters Modules in Positive Behavioural support and working with Autism. Leadership training in also available and would be a requirement of the role
