We are looking to fill two vacant Mechanic posts. Duties will include repairing and maintaining all the authority's fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment ensuring all vehicles are repaired and available for use with the minimum of delay. To be short-listed for interview candidates must be able to demonstrate the following: -
Demonstrable knowledge of Ministry of Transport guidelines for MOT preparation on LGV commercial vehicles. Knowledge of Road Traffic Act, Construction and use of Vehicles Regulations.
Demonstrable knowledge of Health and Safety i.e. fire safety, noise and vibration, hazardous substances.
City and Guilds in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, minimum level 2 (or equivalent NVQ in motor mechanics)
Approved MOT Tester for Class IV & VII vehicles.
Current LGV Class C Licence or provide evidence of working towards and have achieved within 12 months of appointment, in order to carry out daily duties, i.e. drive up to 32 tonne RCV.
Advantageous in having practical experience of maintaining LGV’s including refuse collection and road sweeping vehicles and undertaking MOT’s and maintaining cars.

The successful applicant will be required to work from the Council’s transport facility at Doe Lea and there may be a requirement to work on occasional Saturdays for additional payment.
