Mechanical Buyer

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Buyer located in Witney. The Mechanical Buyer will be responsible for ensuring availability of production items, taking responsibility for sourcing, purchasing and the delivery of mechanical materials and components, achieving best value and continuous improvement with key focus on quality, cost and delivery, involvement in the selection of suppliers, ongoing approval and supplier relationship management as well as other purchasing duties and responsibilities. The role will also involve becoming a key member of the supply team, supporting the tactical and operational objectives.

Person Specification & Key Requirement

• Excellent understanding of the end-to-end procurement process, risk management, Environmental Social Governance, supplier relationship management & negotiation 
• Proven experience as a buyer within a manufacturing environment; preferably with knowledge of subcontract and direct procurement of fabricated metal, bespoke manufactured parts, including metal and plastic machined components
• Ability to understand and extract technical information from drawings and specifications
• Numerate, analytical and commercially aware
• A competent user of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables etc)
• Strong MRP/ERP experience, ideally Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV)
• Ability to build strong and lasting relationships with suppliers and colleagues
• Excellent organisational skills, high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and forward thinking
• Demonstrable experience of delivering cost saving
• A CIPS qualification would be preferable but not essential
