Job Description
Costain are working with United Utilities (UU) on a framework agreement to provide overall management and execution of the larger-scale on-site asset maintenance activities across the Northwest region, including the provision and management of supplementary engineering services to manage and deliver diverse works, including the provision of a first-generation helpdesk.
Responsibilities
- Management and Supervision of site mechanical, electrical, instrument, control and automation (MEICA) installations
- Active contribution to the production of site safety documentation relating to overall site management and the MEICA package of works
- Ensuring SHE standards are continuously improved and that safe systems of work are being adhered to
- Ensuring a high-quality product is being produced in line with current standards and specifications
- Support Subcontractors in the production of suitable Inspection and Test Plans, and ensure that these are completed on site throughout the construction and commissioning phases
- Contribute to the production of appropriate records for hazardous area or safety critical systems e.g. COMPEX certification, tightness testing for mechanical installations
- Produce and maintain the Costain Health, Safety, Environmental Management Plan (HASEMP)
- Discharge relevant duties under the CDM (2015) regulations when acting in the role of Principal Contractor
- Deliver Costain site inductions and toolbox talks where appropriate
- Ensure MEICA safety rules are adhered to and supporting documentation is produced in line with MSP mechanical and electrical safety rules.
- Carry out regular MEICA safety inspections on temporary and permanent equipment.
Qualifications
- HNC or higher within Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline
- Previous water/wastewater site experience (preferred)
- Familiarity with WIMES and United Utilities MEICA standards (preferred)
- Familiarity with working in hazardous environments. Prior knowledge of DSEAR and COMPEX requirements
- SMSTS
- Membership with a relevant professional body
