Job Summary
The Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigation Programme is part of a national strategy to improve maternity across the NHS in England.
The Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigation (MNSI) programme, formerly the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) maternity programme, moved to be hosted by the CQC on the 1 October 2023.
The maternity programme commenced under HSIB in April 2018, following the request from the then Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. The programme is part of the overall national maternity ambition to improve maternity safety and reduce harm by 50% by 2025. The programme was fully rolled out across England by April 2019. In 2022, a commitment was made to continue the programme for a further 5 years, there is currently 2 years of this term remaining.
Job Description
The post holder will play a pivotal role in the development, delivery and support of the governance/information governance approach across the MNSI programme that ensures that the CQC is lawful, open and transparent about the way in which it operates.
You will provide day-to-day advice to the MNSI team and work collaboratively with wider CQC colleagues in relation to aspects of work that require legal expertise and additional Governance and Information Governance support and guidance.
As Governance Manager you will ensure the effective implementation of CQC/MNSI policies and procedures to assist staff in understanding their responsibilities in relation to governance/information governance issues.

Person specification
The post holder will be part of the business services team and be one of two employees working in Governance for MNSI. The post holder will be used to fast paced, changing landscape and able to prioritise workloads as well as address the needs of the business.
You will have extensive knowledge of specialist area with in-depth knowledge of complex information systems and management. With over 2 years’ experience managing governance/information governance within an NHS or equivalent healthcare setting, you will have the ability to handle highly complex and sensitive information for communication with staff at all levels.
