An opportunity has arisen for a part time Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join the existing nursing team within the Local Neonatal Unit at York Hospital.
The post will be a permanent post. The successful candidate will be part of a team of approximately 40 nurses caring for infants born from 27 weeks gestation & 800g. The unit consists of 15 cots, 2 of which are designated for ICU treatment. It is a level 2 Local neonatal unit which supports the tertiary neonatal intensive care units in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
The successful applicant would be expected to manage and be responsible for the running of the unit in the absence of the unit manager. They should have a knowledge of human resources issues relating to the management of a nursing team and developments in the wider trust.
The candidate must be a qualified nurse, with at least 2 years post registration experience within a neonatal environment and hold a Neonatal Qualification in Speciality.
The candidate should have good written and verbal skills and an ability to prioritise workload. They should be enthusiastic and understand the skills and knowledge required to develop themselves and team members.
It is desirable that they hold a mentorship qualification, have an understanding of management / leadership skills and are willing to further their knowledge within their professional development.
