Network Controller

Full time - 37 hrs per week

Permanent

Location – Washington, Tyne and Wear

Salary – £29,198 - £36,498 plus shift allowance

About The Role

Looking for an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in managing Northumbrian Water's strategic water and wastewater systems? As a vital part of our Regional Control Centre, you'll be at the heart of ensuring seamless operations while coordinating out-of-hours activities alongside a dedicated 24-hour shift team.

Your responsibility will be to oversee the day-to-day management and optimisation of the water and wastewater networks, ensuring that every decision balances cost, Resilience, Water quality and Customer service. You'll work closely with field teams to monitor operations, manage alarms, and respond swiftly to any emerging situations, always prioritising the customer experience. Additionally, you'll be the key point of contact for emergency customer service outside regular hours, helping to maintain our exceptional standards.

About You

Thriving under pressure and maintaining a methodical, professional approach is key to success in this role. As a Network Controller, you’ll have the ability to assess situations with clarity, prioritise tasks based on severity, impact, and cost to ensure the best possible outcomes. Your technical expertise will be crucial in understanding and navigating complex control systems, so you will have ability to communicate technical information effectively to colleagues and stakeholders alike.

Beyond technical skills, you’ll have exceptional customer service skills and whether you’re managing operational challenges or assisting customers out of hours, your ability to engage professionally and provide solutions will make a real difference.

This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.

Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.

Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked

Please note this role will require a DBS to be completed prior to employment
