The Network Engineer is responsible for architecting technical solutions for networking environments while providing technical leadership on implementing and achieving those solutions within the Network team. This position provides expertise on engineering solutions via planning, advising, analyzing, designing, testing, and managing highly complex environments. The Network Engineer also researches and employs appropriate emerging technologies to architect networking solutions. The Engineer supports the network and associated environments 7x24-365 operations on a global team of network engineers when required.
Minimum Expereince Requirements
- This position requires a minimum of three years of experience as a Network Engineer.
- Documented experience with the following technologies required: Routing & Switching, Wireless, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP,
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar
- Five or more year of experience in lieu of formal educational requirements
- Advanced degree does not impact required minimum time of professional experience
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (Certification must be currently valid/active)
- Quantity of certifications does not impact minimum time of professional experience
Preferred (not Required)
- IPSEC, ACI, VPN, DMVPN, SD-WAN, and NAC
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain the corporate enterprise network environment, including configuration, troubleshooting, security, monitoring, and the development of procedures relating to the use of network applications and equipment.
- Monitor the reliability of the network across multiple platforms.
- Provide primary support for key network and infrastructure applications, ensuring objectives are met while maintaining defined security standards.
- Assist in configuring and the implementation of major network environments.
- Research and evaluate new industry hardware and software on emerging technologies, market trends, and future expectations to make hardware and software product recommendations.
- Support the day-to-day operation and troubleshooting of the enterprise networks, including the upgrade, update, and repair/replace processes of all networking equipment.
- Complete trouble tickets, assigned tasks, and provide customer feedback as required.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Additional Characteristics
- Comfortable working in global, cross-cultural environments
- Extensive knowledge of Cisco Systems’ route and switch platforms
- Ability to accept afterhours calls for support and/or guidance, including “on-call”
- This is a “hybrid” position and candidate must be comfortable with commute distance to UK Winnersh corporate office
- Proficient with developing publications, white papers, and PowerPoint presentations
- Occasional international travel required.
