Night Shift Bulk Ingredients Operative

Location: Gateshead Team Valley, UK

Reports To: Product Team Lead

We are looking for a diligent and proactive Bulk Ingredients Operative to join our Night shift production team in Gateshead. As a Bulk Ingredients Operative, you will be responsible for picking ingredients from the Raw Materials store to fulfil batch requirements. You will ensure that all ingredients are correctly selected, labelled, and available for the pre-mix operative, ensuring continuous production without unscheduled downtime.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Locate and decant raw materials for production use, ensuring strict stock rotation and full traceability.
  • Ensure mixers are supplied with cages of ingredients in a timely manner to maintain continuous production.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and food safety procedures, ensuring all hygiene procedures are followed.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and correctly, maintaining traceability and reporting any issues immediately.
  • Promote and demonstrate proactive measures for improving processes and equipment.
  • Able to understand, evaluate, and apply technical information. Experience in food handling and production lines.
  • Quick to identify critical information and respond appropriately. Able to work within and improve business processes.
  • Able to apportion time effectively to complete tasks and provide colleagues with the information they need.
  • Dependably achieve set goals and be energized by challenges and opportunities.
  • Confident and professional in representing the company. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both executives and operators on the floor. A candid team player who collaborates with peers to solve problems.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with Quality Assurance procedures and department/area work instructions.
  • Contribute to general improvements in the quality and key activities of the department/area.
  • Carry out all duties safely and in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy, Employee Handbook, procedures, training, and instruction.
  • Be safety conscious and report any safety hazards to the HSE representative.

Qualifications:

  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Experience in food manufacturing and food handling.
  • Good verbal and written English communication and numeracy skills.
  • Level 2 Food Safety (provided by the business).
