Job Purpose

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for developing Ascot’s Man-Made View of Risk across all entities. This includes liability lines and cyber business, with consideration for exposure tools and modelling capabilities across all relevant classes. There will be an expectation to ensure these classes adhere to all regulatory guidelines and documentation is produced to a satisfactory standard. Engagement is expected with underwriters and senior management as well as externally to Lloyds and other regulators/rating agencies. This will be a hybrid role, co-ordinating with other members of the Exposure Management team where relevant.

Detailed Duties

  • Developing Ascot’s View of Risk for non nat-cat classes
  • Creating a workflow for the portfolio management of liability / cyber classes
  • Ensuring data standards are at a necessary level
  • Owning the completeness and accuracy of the data and results
  • Reporting of group exposure and modelled loss positions to the Exposure Management Committee and underwriters, demonstrating an in-depth grasp of movements and materiality to the group portfolio
  • Owner of regulatory reporting from a group man-made risk perspective ensuring delivery in an accurate and timely manner working with underwriters and senior management on the overall completion of these reporting requirements
  • Lead role in Ascot’s view of non-modelled risks
  • Key stakeholder in the use of EM tools and future development projects
  • Expanding advanced analytics capabilities to service the group
  • Participate and bring new ideas for constant improvement of Ascot’s regulatory ratings
  • Part of the constant improvement and streamlining of exposure management capabilities and processes
  • Streamlining of group processes through coding and API functionality

Other Expectations

  • Participating in the wider activities of the exposure management team as well as the overall risk function
  • From time to time, taking part in relevant projects throughout the wider business
  • Keeping up-to-date with technological developments applicable to our field

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience with relevant lines of business (e.g. Casualty, D&O, Cyber)
  • Ability to effectively lead a team, manage people and influence colleagues in a matrix organisation
  • Demonstrable competence in querying SQL. Knowledge of other non-SQL alternatives useful.
  • Experience using high-level coding languages like VBA, R, Python. C++ or C# would be an advantage.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Robust understanding of risk management & governance frameworks and how this role fits into it.
  • Practical understanding of underwriting risk, disciplines and processes
  • Ability to interpret, analyse, & communicate output of models to key stakeholders
  • Strong numerical data handling and analysis skills preferably demonstrated by a relevant numerical degree.
