We are currently looking for a NPD Floristry Designer
The NPD Floristry Designer plays a key role in the delivery of New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) projects. The role focuses on creating innovative, high-quality floristry ranges that align with customer requirements and business strategies. The NPD Floristry Designer will take responsibly for a portfolio of development customers focusing on NPD account management and manufacturable design. The NPD Floristry Designer will also have the opportunity to support the Senior Floristry Designers on specific projects to gain experience of complex accounts. The NPD Floristry Designer contributes to driving operational excellence, maintaining the smooth running of the NPD function, and collaborating across teams to deliver high-standard product launches.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about design and development, eager to bring new and exciting products to market while building on their creative and organisational skill sets.
On a daily basis you will be:
- Deliver high-quality designs for NPD and EPD projects, ensuring customer and category strategies are met.
- Clearly interpret design briefs and contribute creative ideas to align with business goals.
- Work alongside the Senior NPD Designers, Commercial and Project Management to manage project timelines, critical paths, and deliverables.
- Support the smooth execution of the design process, from concept to production readiness with ownership of the customer gate sheets.
- Establish effective working relationships with cross-functional teams, contributing to successful project outcomes.
- Support customer engagement activities, ensuring samples and presentations exceed expectations
- Maintain NPD tools, resources, and facilities to ensure seamless operations.
- Assist in ordering and managing materials for design and sample creation as required.
- Support customers with any branding or promotional activities they wish to carry out
- Working with a range of cross functional departments, developing innovative product designs for NPD and EPD projects, ensuring alignment with customer design briefs and business needs.
- Lead in the creation of new bouquets for allotted customers, ensuring creative and quality standards are upheld.
- Stay updated on category trends and apply insights to inform product design and development.
- Present designs and concepts internally during feasibility, preparing materials for review by the stakeholders.
- Work closely with the internal and external teams to coordinate project timelines and ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
- Complete gate sheets for new ranges in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide guidance for packaging briefs, artwork approvals, work with the packaging team to deliver the customer brief.
- Assist in other key tasks related to projects for large projects run by Senior Floristry Designers.
- Hold feasibility meetings for allocated customers range reviews. Take notes and action any changes to ensure bouquets are production ready and right first time.
- React proactively and support Commercial in any creative solutions to concession requests
- Customer facing and autonomous ownership of development accounts with mentoring from Senior Floristry Designers.
- Prepare samples and presentations for customer, ensuring they are ready for review and present confidently new ideas and challenges.
- Support in the coordination and execution of customer range reviews alongside the NPD team.
- Ensure all customer paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time for development requests.
- Assist in managing the NPD studio, ensuring it is organised, clean, and stocked with necessary resources.
- Help maintain trackers for sample requests and update in a timely manner to ensure effective workflow.
- Support collaboration with cross-functional teams, including technical, commercial, procurement, and operations, to ensure smooth execution of projects.
- Provide support to the Senior NPD Designer on troubleshooting and resolving development challenges
What you can already do;
Ideally educated to degree level in a horticulture/Food Science/ Technology or a related discipline.
- A level of knowledge about cut flowers and floristry
- Basic experience in product design or development, within FMCG, floristry, and a customer-focused environment.
- Understanding of design processes with a creative mindset to bring innovative ideas to life.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, plus a willingness to learn project management or design tools as necessary.
- Experience in the horticulture, floristry, or gifting industry.
- Familiarity with category insights and consumer data to inform product design.
- Awareness of packaging, artwork creation, and sample production processes.
