An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and knowledgeable gastroenterology nurse to join our established IBD & endoscopy service.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated, caring and compassionate individual, who has a keen interest in managing patients with a diagnosis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). They will work within the multi-disciplinary team in delivering high standards of patient care and maintain a safe working environment within the wider Gastroenterology team. The will also contribute to the endoscopy service, developing skills in lower GI endoscopy with provide continuity of care for IBD patients or others.
The applicant ideally should have some experience in providing care to patients with a diagnosis of Inflammatory bowel disease & be competent in diagnostic flexible sigmoidoscopy, the ability to plan, assess, implement and evaluate patient care. It is essential to possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a willingness to learn, along with the ability to work effectively, efficiently and independently under the indirect supervision of the Lead IBD CNS. You should be self-motivated and have a positive attitude towards change and be able to adapt to change accordingly.

Our dedicated Nurse Specialists provide an excellent, patient focused service to support and manage patients with a diagnosis of IBD. The service is forward thinking and continually strives to develop innovative models of care to ensure patients are provided with appropriate and timely treatment.
In this role, you will provide clinical expertise and support to patients, their family and carers. You will ensure safe delivery and continuity of patient care. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with health care teams both internal and external to the organisation. You will provide an advice line service so that patients can access expert advice in a timely manner. You will have had experience of working on your own initiative and prioritising workload, as well as having excellent communication skills.
You will be expected to perform endoscopic procedures as part of IBD disease assessment and surveillance. You will receive appropriate training to develop these skills further, if needed e.g. undertaking colonoscopy.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
