An exciting opportunity has become available for a HCA working on Jim Quick, Transplant Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital.

You will be required to work in partnership with a well established and highly effective multi-disciplinary team, caring for an extremely vulnerable and complex group of patient pre and post heart and lung transplant surgery.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health Care Assistant looking for a new challenge or for someone at the start of their healthcare career who would like to gain valuable experience by joining our team on Jim Quick, the heart and lung transplant unit for the North West.

You will be supporting the care of patients with unstable angina, heart and lung failure, and complex cardiac and respiratory problems requiring interventional procedures. Additionally, the unit also carries out heart and lung transplantation.

As a Health Care Assistant at Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT), you will benefit from a range of educational programs and career development opportunities. We are committed to supporting your professional growth and will provide training to help you develop your skills in this highly specialized clinical area.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced healthcare assistants or those newly entering the role who are eager to expand their experience and develop within a dynamic and rewarding environment. Upon appointment, the successful candidate(s) will receive full support and training.

We are looking for individuals with a genuine interest in transplant surgery, who are hardworking, compassionate, and committed to delivering high standards of patient care, and who are motivated to improve and grow within the role.

MFT is one of the largest NHS Trusts in England with a turnover of £2.8bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts. We’re creating an exceptional integrated health & social care system for the 1 million patients who rely on our services every year.

Bringing together 10 hospitals & community services from across Manchester, Trafford & beyond, we champion collaborative working & transformation, encouraging our 30,000 workforce to pursue their most ambitious goals. We set standards that other Trusts seek to emulate so you’ll benefit from a scale of opportunity that is nothing short of extraordinary.

We’ve also created a digitally enabled organisation to improve clinical quality, patient & staff experience, operational effectiveness & driving research, and innovation through the introduction of Hive; our Electronic Patient Record system which launched in September 2022.

We’re proud to be a major academic Research Centre & Education provider, providing you with a robust infrastructure to encourage and facilitate high-quality research programmes. What’s more, we’re excited to be embarking on our Green Plan which sets out how MFT continues to play its part in making healthcare more sustainable.

At MFT, we create and foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, provide equal opportunities for career development that are fair, open, and transparent, protecting your health and wellbeing and shaping the future of our organisation together.
