What will the successful candidate be doing:
Job Purpose:
To provide professional Occupational Health (OH) Nursing services across Sellafield Ltd (SL) sites, in order to protect and improve the physical and mental wellbeing and safety of the workforce. This includes conducting fitness-for-work assessments, health surveillance, emergency medical response, and promoting workplace health initiatives.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Conduct statutory and non-statutory health surveillance and screening assessments, including audiometry, spirometry, and radiation worker health assessments, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policy.
- Assess and advise on fitness for work, providing evidence-based occupational health reports to employees and managers.
- Provide nurse led first aid services to ensure the sites compliance with the First Aid at Work Regulations.
- Deliver SL medical emergency response (radiological and non-radiological) in support of the Site License.
- Participate in incident investigations related to occupational illness and workplace exposures, providing expert guidance on health risk mitigation.
- Maintain accurate and confidential occupational health records, ensuring compliance with medical-legal responsibilities and professional standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of occupational health policies and procedures, ensuring they reflect current legislation, industry best practices, and site-specific requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the department’s compliance with Safe, Effective, Quality Occupational Health Service (SEQOHS) accreditation.
- Deliver health promotion initiatives to enhance employee well-being and resilience in a high-risk industrial environment.
- Undertake relevant training and professional development to maintain competency, including compliance with Post Registration Education and Practice (PREP) requirements.
- Assist in the training and development of new/junior occupational health staff including provision of mentorship and preceptorship to support the department’s resource strategy and ensuring the department maintains high clinical and professional standards.

The Ideal Candidate:
Knowledge Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Registered Nurse (RGN/RN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) with experience of dealing with complex health issues in adult nursing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Individual is required to be medically fit to wear all approved PPE/RPE required for delivery of the position.
Desirable:
- Previous occupational health experience.
- Experience in an emergency or critical care setting.
- Recognised post-registration qualification in occupational health nursing (e.g. Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health).
- NMC Part 3.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
