As an Occupational Therapist within South Gloucestershire, you will enable people to recognise their strengths and abilities, with an emphasis on helping them set their own goals. You will use your skills and expertise in working with adults who may require assistive technology, helping them achieve and maintain independence.
Our in-house Assistive Technology Team is talented, skilled and forward thinking. You will work closely with assessing practitioners and providers to ensure independence is maximised for the individuals we work with. Assessing their social care, functional and health needs, you will work with them to create a plan so they can manage the requirements of daily life.
- It is your responsibility to complete occupational therapy assessments in the community, with our service users in their own homes.
- You will consider ways to support the wider team to be effective in their interventions and to adopt assistive technology solutions,including using task analysis.
- Daily, you will have a caseload with regular supervision and support, and work alongside colleagues, taking a strength-based approach in line with the 3-conversation model.
- You will develop and maintain close working relationships with service users, their families and formal carers.
- As part of the role, you will liaise and work closely with contacts from different sectors, including health, housing and partners, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring best practice is shared.
As an Advanced Occupational Therapist, you will be required to:
- be responsible for supporting students on placement as an experienced practitioner.
- regularly, you will share examples of using research and evidence-based resources to enhance practice and share learning with team (e.g. use of Research in Practice / other online resources).
- We require you to have a professional Occupational Therapy qualification, Dip COT, BSc Honours OT, (or equivalent), and be registered with the Health Professionals Council.
- You will be able to demonstrate how your experience of working in a hospital or community setting or voluntary or agency providing Occupational Therapy Services is relevant to this post.
- It is essential, you should show you are up to date and sound knowledge of all related legislation relevant to Social Services Occupational Therapy and legislation supporting this.
- You will have experience of managing complex cases and demonstrate that you can apply excellent assessment skills in practice.
- You must be excellent at time management so that you are able to work efficiently to meet the service requirements.
Advanced Occupational Therapist:
- We require you to have a professional occupational therapy qualification, Dip COT, BSc Honours OT or equivalent, and be registered with the Health Professionals Council.
- You will be able to demonstrate how your experience of working in a hospital, community, voluntary or agency setting providing occupational therapy services is relevant to this post.
- It is essential that you are up to date and have sound knowledge of all related legislation relevant to social services occupational therapy and legislation.
- You will have experience of managing complex cases and demonstrate that you can apply excellent assessment skills in practice.
- Given the nature of the role, you must be excellent at time management so that you are able to work efficiently to meet the service requirements.
What you need to know
- Salaries are offered at points within these bands depending on experience.
- Occupational Therapist: £35,235 - £37,938
- Advanced Occupational Therapist: £39,513 - £42,708
- To be considered for Advanced Occupational Therapist evidence must be clearly detailed in your application.
- You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so must have a full valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have alternative appropriate means of travel.
- Business insurance will need to be added to your insurance policy.
- You can claim back mileage expenses.
- Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
