Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to provide specialist skills and knowledge to support with the management of the medical rehabilitation, care of the elderly and frailty patient cohort. This role would run alongside the Team Lead Occupational Therapist, to support with ensuring the department is providing an efficient and effective service as well as some day to day operational management. The post carries a clinical caseload.

The post holder will have good acute and community experience in a variety of acute medical presentations and pathologies, and patients presenting with frailty syndromes. They will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to assess and discharge patients in a timely and appropriate manner with involvement and referrals to our community services.

Please note: Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites.

  • To support the Team Lead Occupational Therapist with the day to day running of the occupational therapy service in medical rehabilitation, ensuring that all patients are given appropriate and effective occupational therapy intervention in accordance with national guidelines

To work as an autonomous practitioner providing highly specialised occupational therapy assessment and treatment to a caseload of complex patients and maintain up to date occupational therapy records.

  • To be a role model for expert clinical care and lead on specific projects / service developments and management functions as delegated by the Clinical Lead Therapist.
  • To use evidence based principles/current best practice and specialist skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and to ensure that all members of your team do likewise.
  • To work with relevant multi-disciplinary team colleagues along integrated care pathways, to deliver best practice and propose changes in practice in light of new evidence and maintain high service profile.
  • To be responsible for the supervision, teaching and day to day line management of more junior staff and students on placement.
  • To be involved with and initiate where appropriate, service developments.
  • To participate in the 5 in 7 ED weekend rota on a regular basis.

Deputise for Clinical Lead Therapist as required.
