What You'll Do
As an Abattoir Apprentice at ABP Sturminster, you will ensure that cattle are processed in accordance with animal welfare requirements and ABP processes. You will also ensure that carcasses are dressed and trimmed according to ABP and customer specifications, as directed by the Production Supervisor. Your role will involve:
- Ensuring carcasses are dressed and trimmed according to ABP and customer specifications.
- Completing work to production deadlines and in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Seeking training to maintain skills and stay up to date with best practices.
- Working as part of a team and taking responsibility for your own work.
- Carrying out all procedures safely and in accordance with training.
- Complying with company policy and procedures on safe food handling and hygiene.
- Maintaining responsibility for the operational effectiveness of equipment and machinery.
- Adhering to PPE use and requirements.
- Performing general housekeeping duties in the factory.
- Carrying out any other reasonable duties assigned.
Who We're Looking For
You don't need experience-just the right attitude and the drive to learn! If you're someone who is keen to learn and work towards complying an apprenticeship, then we want to hear from you.
It's not going to be easy but you'll be support and guided every step of the way.
What You'll Need
- Ability to follow detailed operating procedures with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Willingness to follow instructions, including those related to personal health and safety and the wearing of PPE.
- Physical ability to perform fast-paced tasks in a refrigerated environment.
No formal qualifications required but by the end of the programme you'll have gained:
- Level 2 Abattoir Apprenticeship
- Level 2 Food Safety
- Level 2 Health & Safety
- Welfare At Time of Kill license (WATOK)
