We are seeking a driven and experienced Operations Manager to join a thriving SME based in Stafford. This is a pivotal leadership role with the autonomy to influence operations, improve efficiency, and shape the future of our warehousing function.
About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will oversee all operational activities across warehousing, goods-in, dispatch, and quality assurance. You will be instrumental in driving operational excellence through strong leadership, process improvement, and the implementation of modern systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute strategic operational initiatives in line with business growth objectives
- Manage day-to-day warehousing operations, including goods-in, despatch, and quality assurance
- Develop and lead a high-performing team with a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Implement and manage new IT systems to enhance productivity and workflow
- Oversee departmental budgets and drive cost-efficiency across all operational areas
- Establish and monitor clear KPIs to ensure consistent performance and service levels
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety legislation, industry standards, and company procedures
- Champion continuous improvement across operations, promoting efficiency and innovation
Requirements
About You:
- Proven experience in operations or warehousing management, ideally within a consumables or fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership and coaching ability with a collaborative and practical approach
- Demonstrable experience in delivering operational efficiencies and driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Solid understanding of Lean principles, 5S methodology, and Six Sigma tools and techniques
- Comfortable implementing systems and change within a growing business
- Commercially astute with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
