Outpatient Sister / Charge Nurse
A unique opportunity has arisen to join the diverse and unique Oral, Maxillofacial, Orthodontics & Restorative Dentistry (OMFSORD) Outpatients team
To manage, communicate with, and lead a team of nursing staff, consisting of registered nurses, registered dental nurses, nursing assistants and technicians to deliver high standards of care within Outpatients.
To manage, communicate with and lead the nursing team and department with the support of the Clinical & governance Lead for the service
To manage service needs within the department relating to Government and Trust initiatives, GDC compliance, ensuring targets are defined, met and continued.
To proactively manage the OMFSORD Outpatients Department, ensuring staff, service needs, trust and unit targets are met.
To manage a defined budget.
To be responsible for outpatient staff, adhering to related Trust policies
Ensure the patient’s journey is as smooth as possible, looking and responding to the complex needs of individual patients and multiple services within the department. Resolving any patient complaints, maintaining confidentiality at all times, ensuring sensitive information is managed and cascaded appropriately, by working closely with, communicating and liaising with: consultants, doctors, GP’s, other managers/departments, community/primary care staff, directorate managers, and each of the specialty teams.

The post-holder will have the opportunity to collaborate with academic colleagues on relevant clinical research projects.
The post-holder’s contribution to and time allocation for teaching, training and research will be included in regular job plan reviews. The teaching and support of medical and nursing staff in the provision of psychiatric assessment and care is a major part of the role.
