Main duties of the job

We are pleased to invite applications to join our Paediatric Long Term Ventilation (LTV) Team as an administrative technician. The role involves working closely with the LTV team, and patients and their families, arranging for the servicing and repair of ventilation devices for patients both in the community and hospital. Time will also be spent working alongside the LTV educators arranging and supporting study days. The role is relatively new and has scope to be developed and grown by the right candidate.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

The successful applicant must have access to a car, to be parked on site and used for delivery/collection of equipment as required.

A full DBS will be required and Occupational Health screening.

Qualifications / Training Required

Essential criteria

  • NVQ 3 in appropriate health care module or equivalent education and training or experience
  • Child Protection and domestic violence awareness.
  • Computer skills- data base and record keeping.

Desirable criteria

  • Experienced and competent in additional clinical skills as per job description
  • Care and maintenance of equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the specific service and ventilator equipment requirements

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential criteria

  • Logical and consistent work and career pattern.
  • Proven experience in an acute hospital environment
  • Proven experience in a caring role involving children

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in care and maintenance of LTV equipment.

  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to work as part of a Multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work independently, assessing and intervening as necessary to ensure patient safety.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work with respiratory equipment and trouble shoot problems.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective time management skills and honesty regarding lone working.

  • Able to prioritise.
