Due to growth an exciting opportunity has arisen in our Catastrophic Loss team in Southampton for an experienced Paralegal. We are looking for candidates with defendant experience within personal injury and Large Loss claims. To be successful in the role you will be able to hit the ground running in a fast paced environment where your input and support is vital to the success of the function. The team are predominantly based from our Southampton office, but we are open to flexible working patterns and remote working from other locations across England.

Responsibilities

• To assist senior members of the team (Senior Associates and Directors) progress cases through the litigation process, including assisting with disclosure, witness and expert evidence and preparing for trials/JSMs
• Deal with the technical aspects of the case, under the supervision of senior team members
• To act as a trusted member of the team whilst taking responsibility of tasks, including updating files, reviewing confidential records and, liaising with third parties
• Ensuring the case management system is kept up to date

What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential

• Previous insurance experience in EL/PL or RTA is essential
• Previous experience working in a Legal environment
• The ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, whilst working to strict deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to quickly and carefully analyse files and sensitive data
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

• Experience handling Large Loss cases
• Previous knowledge of working with Visual Files case management system
• Demonstrable knowledge of the importance and use of Management Information
