Parcel Automation Manager
£35,294 salary plus 10% annual bonus potential, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays rising with service and a company pension scheme with highly competitive contribution rates

The role is based out of the Midlands Super Hub (NN6 7GZ), the weekly shift pattern is below:
Tuesday 10:00 - 19:00, Wednesday - Saturday 11:00 - 19:00
As part of Royal Mail’s transformation strategy, we’re building a national network of cutting-edge automated Parcel Hubs. At the heart of this initiative is the Midlands Super Hub—our largest site—processing over 1 million parcels daily and handling 50% of the UK’s mail via road and rail, thanks to our on-site rail platform.
We’re now looking for passionate, driven, and experienced Parcel Automation Manager to join the leadership team at the Midlands Super Hub. In this fast-paced, highly automated environment—with capacity for 60,000 parcels per hour—you’ll play a key role in leading teams, driving performance, and delivering a world-class operation.
About The Role
The Flow Room is the command centre of our automated hub—making real-time, data-driven decisions to ensure optimal parcel flow, system performance, and delivery outcomes across the UK.
As part of the Flow Room Systems team, you’ll:
- Monitor and control automated parcel sorting systems (APSS) and software to meet operational KPIs.
- Coordinate with warehouse and engineering teams to quickly resolve faults and maximise system availability.
- Use tools like WMS, SCADA, CCTV, and C3 Yard to manage parcel and vehicle flow, prevent bottlenecks, and maintain service levels.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
- Make high-stakes, data-informed decisions under pressure.
About You
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- Experience in a flow/control room or automated logistics environment.
- Strong data analysis and decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with automated parcel sorting systems, and continuous improvement practices.
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft tools.
- Clear communication skills—able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- A customer-focused mindset and commitment to quality, accuracy, and efficiency
- Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to perform under pressure
