Our Advice, Audit & Accounts and Nonprofit teams are trained to have broad experience across a range of disciplines, from audit and accounts through to tax and other advisory services, so we can support our clients cross-discipline solutions. These teams work with clients who vary in size, from sole traders to medium and large businesses, across a wide range of sectors.
This position is seeking an individual who is part-qualified in their ACA qualification. You will be part of a tight-knit team, working directly with Partners, Directors, and Managers, providing client focused and commercially aware services in an efficient and professional manner.
This role will be non profit focused, you will be getting exposure to wider business advisory work. This
role includes: Carrying out audit/accounts and related tax assignments for clients that range
in size and industry.
You will actively promote and market the firm and its services, to attract new clients and
retain and develop relationships with existing clients, with the opportunity to work across a
range of sectors.
Key Responsibilities
From the get-go, you'll work with all kinds of nonprofit clients, getting to know their organisations, uncovering the obstacles they face, their preferences and the nuances of the nonprofit sector. We encourage you to take responsibility early on, and you'll get to grips with all aspects of the role. You'll predominantly work nonprofit team, but can also benefit from experience across other teams, sectors and services.
In addition to internal and external training, you'll learn on the job through a range of key responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Conducting audit fieldwork on behalf of a wide variety of nonprofit clients, with support from the wider audit team.
- Reviewing accounts in accordance with the relevant Financial Reporting Standards/Statement of Recommended Practice and legal requirements.
- Drafting basic corporation tax computations.
- Assisting with managing client expectations and deadlines.
- Drafting recommendations for improvements to clients' financial systems and controls
- Attending client meetings with the wider team.
- Supporting with drafting of close out audit meeting agenda and points for discussion.
- Maintaining knowledge of all relevant ISA requirements and MKS internal policies in producing audit files.
- Demonstrating a solid understanding of double entry accounting/bookkeeping.
- Working with other trainees to deliver assignments and assisting them with their personal development.
- Attending client gatherings or client seminars on an ad hoc basis and to pursue specific areas of interest.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Currently studying towards the ICAEW ACA qualification, having completed at least all certificate level papers, or the AAT Level 4 qualificaton
- At least 1 year of audit experience is mandatory, and experience of working with nonprofit clients is highly desirable
- Technically competent
- Experience of Pro-audit, CCH Accounts Production, Xero accounting, Quickbooks
and Alphatax, Office 365 would be desirable
