About The Team

Illumina is looking for an undergraduate associate to join our passionate and hard working Patient Advocacy Global Team to support and continue our work. The Patient Advocacy function forefronts meaningful engagement with individual patients and the groups that represent them in order to build evidence and advocate for the positive impact of genomics utilization in the clinic. As Patient Advocacy associate you will play an active role in supporting the successful implementation of Illumina’s Patient advocacy strategy with specific focus in the UK but also as needed across our Global initiatives. The Patient Advocacy Associate will report to the Global Head of Patient Advocacy and will support in projects and activities as guided by her.

Responsibilities

  • increasing our imprint by identifying and maintaining key relationships with relevant patient organisations
  • supporting the development of key communications and assets (both internally and externally)
  • ongoing support in key initiatives around evidence generation and innovation around patient experience and specific projects as developed in line with our Foundation support
  • understanding, empathy and sensitivity for the full implications of the patient journey in the broadest sense are essential
  • we are looking for someone who is creative, and can be adaptable to new fast moving situations with a high level of energy and passion towards patient experience, genomics and its broad applications in routine healthcare.

About You

To apply for this position you will be undergoing studies in Biomedical Science or in the social sciences of history, ethics, sociology, anthropology and psychology (although other backgrounds may apply). You will have a keen interest in improving human health globally and an ability to think outside the box.

This role is a 12-month placement starting in July 2025, finishing July 2026. Based at our offices in Granta Park, Cambridge. Our programme focuses on meaningful project work, professional and personal development, in addition to providing opportunities outside of your department.
