Job Description
The opportunity
Our Electronics Engineering Function is looking to grow its PCB Layout team to work on designs across its portfolios, specifically to support our collaboration on the Global Combat Air Program. This an excellent opportunity to work on some of the most cutting-edge PCB designs, across a wide variety of technologies, multi-layer analogue and highspeed digital, power and specialist comms and interfaces at ultra-high frequencies 40GHz and beyond.
What You’ll Do As a PCB Layout Engineer
You will collaborate with Hardware and Microwave engineers across varied projects to develop innovative PCB layouts, from import of schematics, component creation and placement. Followed by routing of highspeed power and mixed signals for thermal management and electromagnetic compatibility. Finalising the designs with accurate design documentation (Gerbers, Assembly drawings and BOMs). You will you use and develop your skills to delivering complex designs, whilst utilising the latest Siemens toolchain whilst complying with the latest defence and industry standards to meet the requirements of the project and ensuring optimal performance and manufacturability.
This is unique opportunity to contribute to the new era of aircraft defensive systems with the option to work largely remotely.
You really must have
Experience of
- Experience of creating complex multi-layer PCBs with multiple design interfaces, which may include RF, digital, FPGA, power supply and mixed-signal circuitry
- An ability to read schematics and design PCB’s in accordance with the design intent.
- Familiarity with high pin count parts, high-speed signal routing, differential pairs and standard interfaces, such as SMA, SMP and USB.
- Validating design data to ensure compliance with supplier capability
- Creating manufacturing output data packs, to company standards.
- Participating in project meetings and providing advice to electronic engineers relating to design rules for PCB tools, materials and substrate technology
- Liaising with external suppliers, PCB Assembly houses and PCB Fabricators
- HNC/HND or relevant degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing
It would be nice if you did have
- Experience with RF PCB design or mixed-signal systems.
- Familiarity with 3D modelling and mechanical integration for PCB assemblies.
- Knowledge of power electronics and related thermal management challenges.
- Hands-on experience with PCB manufacturing, testing and/or assembly processes (DFM/DFX).
- Experience with PLM systems for managing design documentation and version control.
Tools
Candidates should be familiar with current industry-standard ECAD tools used for PCB design and layout. It is desirable that you have experience with Siemens Xpedition, although toolset training will be provided.
