The opportunity
We have a new opportunity for a Pensions Projects Manager with significant knowledge of the pensions operating environment. In this diverse and varied role, you will be accountable for identifying and delivering successful outcomes on pensions project activity and strategic business objectives across Leonardo UK pension scheme arrangements and will actively oversee the pensions governance framework. The role is a 24 month fixed term contract.
The Leonardo UK Pensions team manage both defined benefit and defined contribution trust based pension arrangements with assets under governance of c.£2.2bn.
The Company operates flexible working hours and attendance at work can be a blend of on-site and home working, to suit the requirements. Travel is required to support on-site activities, including trustee meetings in London or other UK sites.
What You’ll Do As Our Pensions Projects Manager
Reporting to the Head of UK Pensions, the role is key to delivering project objectives and outcomes to schedule.
Opportunities are varied, working as part of a team to deliver projects and using own initiative to drive forward actions and deliver high quality support. There are opportunities to work with stakeholders at every level of the business.
Key responsibilities will include
- Leading the delivery of varied project activity supporting the Trustees and Company to meet their objectives.
- Overseeing the pensions governance framework as it evolves in line with regulatory and best practice developments, including scheme secretarial and member support as required.
- Supporting risk-management activities across the Leonardo pension arrangements.
- Delivering technical pensions expertise to support our stakeholders.
- Developing our member communication approach and policy/compliance implementation.
- Supporting pensions reporting activity to our stakeholders including corporate activities.
- Supporting, in conjunction with company representatives, the relationship with our employee consultative committee and the development of long term savings infrastructure.
What We Need From You
- The ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a professionally competent pensions team. A desire to succeed and work on own initiative to achieve goals and deliver a ‘best practice’ service to all stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with members, directors and trustees across our business and multiple external partners/providers.
- Extensive knowledge gained having worked in the pension industry within a related discipline (pensions management, consultancy, legal or similar) with responsibility for scheme governance and project delivery.
- Sound technical knowledge of Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension benefits and pension scheme management with an ability to understand complex matters and explain them simply.
- Ability to manage and hold to account third party service providers.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work to project deadlines.
It would be nice if you had
- Recognised external professional pension’s qualification (PMI or industry equivalent).
- Completion of the Pensions Regulator’s ‘Trustee Toolkit’ providing understanding of Trustee duties (or willingness to complete).
