Description

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, inspiring teacher to manage our Professional/Post Graduate (PGCE) and Certificate in Education (CertEd) teacher training courses.


We are looking for an experienced, high performing teacher that meets college expectations to develop the skills of trainee teachers within the FE sector.


The role involves the programme management and delivery of the PGCE/CertEd teacher training curriculum including conducting assessed observations of trainees’ teaching practice.You will work collaboratively with our university awarding body and you will be required to attend occasional in-person staff and student events at the university. You will be required to work closely with mentors to monitor support provided to trainees.


The successful candidate will hold a first degree (2:2 or above), a CertEd/PGCE (or equivalent teaching award) and a masters degree. You will have over 5 years’ experience as a teacher/trainer in the lifelong learning/FE and skills sector with experience of leading a course plus evidence of scholarly activity and/or research potential. You will have a good understanding of pedagogical approaches relevant to teaching in Further Education and will conduct formal observations and feedback in line with awarding body and WHCG policies.


You will also be able to promote, support and embed English, Maths and wider skills within planning and delivery of teaching and support trainees in doing this with their learners.You should be committed to providing prompt, details assessment of student work and providing one-to-one feedback and target setting for trainees, both in terms of their assignment work and assessed observations.


The qualifications, experience and ability to deliver within other curriculum area(s) of the college would be advantageous.
