N764 Environmental Communications Officer - Role Profile

  • Current Plymouth City Council apprentices wishing to apply for this role must contact the recruiting manager to ensure that they are able to support them to satisfactorily complete their NVQ qualification. Apprentices must also have 6 months continuous service and satisfactorily completed their probationary period before applying.

Are you passionate about tackling climate change and want to make a difference?

We're looking for a natural and creative communicator with a good grasp of digital and social media channels, ready to get stuck in on building awareness, engagement and commitment to taking positive climate action in Plymouth. A good all rounder, you will be equally happy organising business and community engagement events as writing content, collaborating with others across the city and building support through social media channels. Fixed term with the potential to become permanent.

You’ll be working in the Net Zero Delivery team and be instrumental in supporting the city’s mission to get to net zero.

This role is flexible with both office and home working. Proximity to Plymouth is essential.

We’re Looking For Candidates As Follows

  • A graduate with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in communications and engagement
  • A good understanding of climate change, the main challenges, issues and campaigns to stimulate action and behavioural change
  • A strong creative communicator face to face, in writing and digitally literate- Experience of working collaboratively with creative agencies an advantage
  • Confidence with web platforms and tools such as Wordpress and Canva desired
