SP Energy Networks (SPEN) will be delivering over £10 bn of investment in the GB electricity grid over the next 5 years. A major part of this is delivery of the EGL1 HVDC link in Joint Venture with National Grid.
The EGL1 Programme Manager will be part of the PMO team within EGL1, formed of SPT, NGET and external staff reporting to the PMO Lead. The Programme Manager will be responsible for overseeing the production, change control, and risk management of high-quality project programme plans for SP Transmission within the EGL1 HVDC Joint Venture with National Grid Electricity Transmissions (NGET).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Production and updating of high-quality project plans within, P6 Primavera, as necessary.
- Ensuring that plans exist and are developed to a level appropriate with the stage of the project lifecycle.
- Primarily oversee management and maintenance of Programme data in Primavera (P6) format.
- Oversee the preparation and update of the programme masterplan through collation of planning data from multiple sources for consolidation into an overall programme.
- Identifying, capturing and tracking dependencies within plans, schedules and reporting
- Interpretive analysis of planning data from contractors and preparation of planning reporting information
- Ensure the timely preparation of project and overall programme reports to support the governance framework.
- Cultivate strong relationships and effectively manage interfaces with all the parts of the EGL1 team, including Contractors, engaged in project and programme development.
- Facilitation of planning workshops with Senior Stakeholders and Project Managers
- Oversee the change control process for the plan, showing change history for audit purposes, and all relevant business authorisations.
- Conduct a risk analysis of the plan and identify potential threats and risks. Make recommendations on potential mitigation, or work with stakeholders to agree actions.
- Manage and circulate the risks and issues log for the Major Projects Development plan, and capture and track mitigation plans and actions. Track and report on progress against these actions and escalate as necessary.
What You’ll Bring
- Significant experience (5+ years) in large-scale, complex infrastructure or energy EPC projects, with UK transmission/distribution upgrade project experience advantageous but not essential.
- Experience of leading a planning team to deliver major infrastructure projects preferably in the UK Electricity Transmission industry.
- Technical planning experience to advanced Primavera level with knowledge and use of other planning tool such as MS Project
- Understanding of programme data and requirements to support with system integration such as PowerBi.
As a Minimum, You Will Demonstrate
- Experience in project/contract management within FIDIC EPC type contracts ideally with a background in capital projects.
- Degree/HND/HNC level qualifications or relative demonstrable experience.
- Technical planning expert to advanced Primavera level with knowledge and use of other planning tool such as MS Project
- Self-motivated with sound interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with an assertive style of behaviour.
- Practiced analytical and problem-solving skills
- IT systems -competent in Microsoft Office suite including MS Project
- Experienced in a programme delivery or project planning environment
- Electrical Network experience desirable
- Working knowledge and experience of Programme\Project Management methodologies such as Prince 2 is desirable
- An engineering project background would be useful, preferably within the electrical utilities industry.
- Experience of using the programme to help with commercial matters such as monitoring of achievement of commercial deliverables and management of claims is desirable.
- Experience of working on both Client and Contractor side.
