Platform Engineering Capability QA Lead
Location: London, UK
Work Model: Hybrid (Minimum 2-3 days per week onsite)
About the Role
We are looking for a Platform Engineering Capability QA Lead to drive quality assurance excellence within our platform engineering teams. The focus is on robust testing practices combined with deep IT infrastructure knowledge to ensure high-quality delivery across complex environments including data centers, cloud, and AV systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the definition, implementation, and enforcement of testing strategies, policies, and standards within a multi-vendor platform engineering environment.
- Hands-on involvement in test planning, design, execution (manual and introductory automation), and defect management.
- Collaborate closely with platform owners, engineers, DevOps, and business analysts to clarify requirements, identify risks, and validate platform components.
- Manage risk and quality through regular audits, peer reviews, and post-implementation assessments.
- Advocate early and continuous testing throughout the platform lifecycle.
- Support incident investigations and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in test management within Agile and traditional frameworks, leading teams responsible for functional and non-functional testing.
- Broad IT infrastructure expertise across:
- Hardware: Compute, storage, networking
- Virtualisation technologies
- Software-defined networking (SDN) and software-defined storage (SDS)
- Public cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure)
- Containerisation technologies
- Strong operational mindset encompassing customer service, security, performance, and IT operations perspectives.
- Systems thinking with ability to identify single points of failure.
- Familiarity with IT operations and ITSM frameworks (ITIL Foundation preferred).
- Experience leading test automation tooling and implementation efforts.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills in English.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools like HashiCorp Terraform.
- ISTQB or ISEB testing certifications.
- API testing experience (e.g., Postman), including use of mocks and stubs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Agile/Scrum methodology and Jira experience.
