About the role
This role will suit a customer facing technical consultant experienced in capturing requirements and defining appropriate solutions. The ideal candidate will draw on their broad technical background to engage confidently in sales meetings. They will understand how to frame commercially sound solutions, ensure technical viability, and build trust both internally and with clients.
Working primarily with our existing clients, you will build lasting relationships with stakeholders and work with Account Managers and Subject Matter Expert (SMEs) to develop technology roadmaps. You will become a trusted advisor, explaining how technical solutions will bring benefits and solve business challenges.
As such, you will need to be able to describe solutions to non-technical stakeholders and demonstrate commercial understanding. You will be sensitive and aware of the customer’s requirements and have the agility to adjust your approach. You will have access to a very strong technical team when a more in-depth level of technical knowledge is required. Similarly, you won’t need to be a salesperson – we have account managers and sales leaders to support customer meetings.
Responsibilities
Pre-sales
Act as the technical lead during the customer pre-sales engagements - build relationships and become a trusted advisor when developing technology roadmaps:
- Perform ‘discovery meetings’ through presales engagements to understand customer business goals, challenges, and requirements - Provide strategic guidance on best practices.
- Assist the sales function in presenting products and solutions to existing customers.
- Generate project scoping documents bridging the customer requirements and the technical solution.
- Engage with Subject Matter Experts, when their deep technical input is needed, to produce a solution design.
- Support the sales function by maintaining and evolving key product and solution documentation, checklists, pricing calculators, and templates.
- Contribute to product management, particularly identifying requirements needing new solutions or services.
Other responsibilities
- Ensure timely completion of timesheets for accurate project billing and reporting.
- Generate management reporting on key presales metrics.
Qualification, experience and skills
- Experience working as a presales engineer, architect, project delivery engineer, consultant, or similar role at an MSP or similar IT Services outsourcer.
- Exposure to a broad range of modern technologies, in particular Microsoft M365, Azure, Networking, and Cyber Security.
- Exposure to, or experience, delivering projects and programmes of change.
- Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both, technical and non-technical audiences.
- Fluent spoken and very good written English.
