The Role
As a Principal Engineer, you will join a team providing high-integrity specialist advice across a range of military platforms, including Combat Air, Air Support, Training, Rotorcraft and Uncrewed Air Systems.
Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with our customers, design organisations and with other stakeholders in direct support of structural airworthiness working in a breadth of our portfolio which provides exciting opportunities at all stages of platform life.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Acting as a technical specialist supporting the project engineers and managers in technical delivery accounting for time, cost and quality
- The production of timely and proactive engineering output whilst defining and delivering technical workplans, resources and tasks
- Ensuring that effective governance of all airworthiness and safety advice is demonstrated to meet the technical solutions appropriate regulatory, legal and safety engineering standards
- Capturing and understanding the customers requirements and providing innovative solutions to any problems
- Providing Technical Assurance of engineering outputs where appropriate and in line with experience and delegations
- Contributing towards bidding activities and building customer relationships
Essential Experience Of The Principal Engineer
- Experience in one or more of the following subject areas; Aircraft structural integrity, independent structural airworthiness advice, Independent Technical Evaluation, Airworthiness policy and regulation, Aircraft usage assessment, Structural Health Monitoring, Aircraft loads evaluation, Flutter and aeroelastics, Stores integration, Structural teardown, Fatigue analysis, Flight data analysis, Civil / Military Aircraft certification, Digital Engineering or Modelling and Simulation
- Proven experience and understanding of UK military aircraft engineering and operating practices
- Previous experience and expertise in relevant aerospace structures or equivalent disciplines
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the wider structures team and other disciplines
- Strong communication skills and experience speaking with customers through verbal and written outputs
Essential Qualifications For The Principal Engineer
- BEng / MEng in Aeronautical Engineering or similar
- Chartered Engineer

This role is 37 hours per week based at Farnborough. Hybrid working patterns are available.
