St. Ninian's Episcopal Primary School is looking for an inspiring, ambitious and dynamic Principal Teacher to join our dedicated team. Our school is committed to providing a high standard of learning with a strong emphasis on raising achievement and nurturing the potential of every child.
St. Ninian's Episcopal Primary School is a small, inner city school situated in the heart of Perth and we have well-established links with many local organisations, clubs and businesses. The school fully embraces our city setting, making good use of links with Perth museum, Perth theatre and other local landmarks such as the North Inch, providing learners with a wide range of learning opportunities.
St. Ninian's Episcopal Primary School currently has 96 pupils across our nursery and 3 multi-composite classes. The school aims to provide a welcoming ethos where all learners are valued, cared for and supported to have ambition in an environment where children enjoy rich and meaningful learning opportunities. We continually strive to provide pupils with a stimulating and interesting curriculum which is appropriate to each individual's needs and abilities.
As Principal Teacher of this well regarded and thriving school, you will be part of the school leadership team with responsibility for the development, delivery and monitoring of high-quality learning and teaching, which meets the needs of all learners. You will also be expected to lead quality assurance activities to plan, develop and monitor the continuous improvement of the school, in line with local and national objectives. Working in partnership with all stakeholders, you will take responsibility for contributing towards our inclusive learning environment to ensure every child and family feels valued.

Skills & Experience Required
We are looking to appoint a motivated, dynamic and experienced individual with an excellent track record in Primary teaching.
The successful candidate will have a detailed knowledge and experience of the whole primary curriculum, from nursery to upper school, and will confidently apply the principles of the curriculum within the classroom.
The Principal teacher will have the ability to work effectively building relationships with partners, colleagues, parents, the wider community and other specialist agencies as appropriate.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have had experience of leading initiatives and improvement activities.
The ability to organise workload to meet deadlines is essential. The successful candidate will join a committed staff team who promote an ethos of nurture and achievement for all within a vibrant, city school.
Alongside This, The Successful Candidate Will
- Be able to apply and share a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners and to promote high standards of learning and teaching within the team.
- Have knowledge of the Standards for Middle Leaders, evidencing how you embody these within your practice
- Be committed to ongoing professional development through engaging in leadership training opportunities
- Have experience in leading and managing school improvement initiatives
- Have a comprehensive understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies
- Be able to demonstrate and share knowledge of relevant curriculum developments both at a local and national level
- Be able to use ICT in relation to school improvement, learning, teaching and classroom management
- Have knowledge and experience of the application of restorative approaches and nurturing principles
- Have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions
- Have effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Support the Headteacher in ensuring the effective and safe running of the school
Have a diploma/degree in Primary Education.
Have GTC Scotland registration.
Are member of the PVG Scheme, or be willing to apply for this.
