Lead the future of transport planning in Greater Manchester.


At BakerHicks, we're delivering some of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure and development projects. As we expand our Transport Planning team, we’re looking for a Principal Transport Planner with strong local planning experience to take the lead on sustainable, high-profile schemes across the region.


You’ll drive forward transport strategies from concept to delivery, mentor a growing team, and work closely with local authorities, developers, and multi-disciplinary teams to shape projects that matter.


What you'll do:

  • Lead and deliver transport planning projects across Greater Manchester
  • Provide strategic input on local plans, transport assessments, and sustainable travel
  • Manage and mentor junior transport planners
  • Produce robust technical outputs (TAs, Travel Plans, CTMPs, EIA inputs)
  • Build strong relationships with local stakeholders and planning authorities
  • Contribute to business development and grow our regional presence


What we're looking for:

  • Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Chartered or working towards (CIHT, TPS, ICE)
  • Strong knowledge of Greater Manchester transport planning policy and process
  • Proven project leadership and stakeholder engagement experience
  • Familiarity with GIS, CAD, Adobe tools, and experience in Active Travel, LCWIPs, and Public Realm projects is a bonus
