What does a ‘Procedural’ Supervisor do at Hogarth?

Proceduralism relies on broken down published components, logical structures and parameters to construct CGI at scale with code rather than manual effort. Procedural Supervisors will be responsible for overseeing the creation and development of these conventions. This role involves working closely with Python developers to define procedural specifications for modelling, texturing and surfacing systems, including asset shading, lighting, and scene compositing. This role reports to the ‘Global Director Of Vfx ’ and will work closely with all our global CGI/VFX teams.

Responsibilities

  • Modelling and build: Define and build procedural systems for creating and poly modeling everything from environments, vehicles, props, and characters to be used in production with an emphasis on photo-realism, accuracy, detail, and function, and provide tools for manual adjustments of lookdev parameters.
  • Procedural Specifications: Collaborate with Python developers to establish clear specifications for how the procedural system should function, covering UV’s, rigging and displacement map workflows using publishing and dependency.
  • Quality Control systems: Eye for detail and able to build QA procedures to ensure the highest quality before release of assets

As part of our commitment to making our hiring processes as equitable as possible, we are currently rolling out a policy which ensures that hiring managers review CVs only after they have been processed through an automated anonymisation system. This aims to ensure that all candidates are considered for interview based solely on their experience and what they can bring to the role. The solution, provided by MeVitae, scans and redacts CVs to reduce potential reviewer bias.
