We are looking to hire a Permanent Process Engineer for our recently acquired Industrial Company Aqua Operations.

About The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to provide practical and technical support for environmental consultancy projects on commercial, industrial, municipal wastewater and sludge processing projects.

You will be contributing to a variety of consultancy project types that will primarily include; headroom assessments, technology optioneering, feasibility and pilot studies, process design, process commissioning, process optimisation, CBA, RCA and troubleshooting. You will also provide process technical support to our O&M contracts.

Who We Are Looking For:

The ideal candidate would be someone who has gained a degree in a relevant field, with an interest in providing practical solutions to environmental improvement.


  • The candidate should have a minimum of 2 years relevant industry experience.
  • The role will be a combination of field/office/lab based and will involve (including other duties) collection and analysis of samples, interpretation of data, development of scientific reports, presenting findings to clients.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to quickly develop rapport and earn the trust of our clients.
  • A dynamic approach to problem solving is required, with the ability to think outside of the box to develop bespoke solutions to unique and often complex effluent treatment issues.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel to a range of sites throughout the UK and some projects may involve working away for short periods from time to time.


Essential skills and experience:


  • Full clean driver’s license essential
  • BSc or BEng (min) in relevant field Theoretical knowledge in water/wastewater chemistry, microbiology, engineering Practical experience of working on industrial sites/water utility sites
  • Strong laboratory skills Strong report writing skills Good communicator, coordinating with various teams and to your line manager
  • Confident in communicating your ideas to clients and teams though meetings and presentations
  • Good understanding of UK environmental legislation for water discharges Awareness of H&S requirements for working on sites (RAMS, permits, inductions)
  • Interest and awareness of environmental issues
  • Previous experience of customer facing roles in a professional setting


Preferable Skills And Experience


  • Experience of working for/with UK water utilities and/or UK industry on effluent treatment plant operations
  • Competent in the use of a microscope beneficial
  • Undertaking REA and literature reviews
  • Developing SOPs
  • Laboratory method development
  • Basic understanding of site engineering (e.g. various types of pumps, mixers, aeration systems, their mechanical function and control philosophies) beneficial
  • Presenting technical papers at conferences beneficial, but not essential
  • Competent in using CAD, CFD and/or process modelling software (e.g. BIOWIN) would be beneficial, but not essential.
