Your Role: Product Engineer, Digital
As a
Product Engineer at Global, you’ll play a critical role in developing new digital products and improving existing ones. You’ll work across multiple teams and functions, from suppliers and internal stakeholders to operations, ensuring product development aligns with both commercial and operational goals. This role requires both a strong technical engineering background and a commercial mindset to drive the success of new product initiatives, particularly in the outdoor and digital spaces (LCD/LED).
Key Responsibilities
- Product Development (40%): Lead the development of new digital products (LCD/LED) for the outdoor business, from concept to final product delivery.
- Supplier & Stakeholder Management (30%): Assess and engage with suppliers to ensure products meet compliance and performance standards, while building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lifecycle & Risk Management (20%): Oversee the full lifecycle of product development, managing budgets, product performance (MTBF, obsolescence), and mitigating any risks to ensure successful project delivery.
- Project Leadership (10%): Ensure all product development projects are delivered within defined programs and timelines, collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers to meet deadlines.

What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, you’ll have:
- Gained a deep understanding of the business and how your product development efforts align with Global’s goals.
- Started building key relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Developed and executed a 90-day plan to guide your progress and ensure successful product development.
- Initiated new product developments by reaching out to suppliers and working on initial project milestones.
- Reported monthly on the number of suppliers engaged and progress made with the product development lifecycle.
- Understood budget allocations and how to maximize the potential of available resources.
What You’ll Need
- Experience: Proven track record in product development, particularly in mechanical, electrical, or digital engineering.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of digital product development (LCD/LED) and the ability to challenge and assess suppliers based on performance and trends.
- Project Management: Ability to manage the full lifecycle of product development, from design to implementation, ensuring all timelines and budgets are adhered to.
- Commercial Mindset: Understanding of the business side of product development, including pricing, risk management, and cost-effective solutions.
- Degree or Equivalent: A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Product Engineering (or similar), with hands-on experience in product development roles.
- Problem Solving: Able to evaluate product failures and trends, and propose solutions that will improve product reliability and performance.
- Stakeholder Communication: Confident and skilled in communicating with both technical teams and senior business leaders.
