Role purpose
Ashurst Advance's Digital Office is the firm's technology and experience powerhouse. We work with our New Law business to develop differentiated services for our clients, whilst embedding digital as a competency for the whole firm through developing and enabling future-fit tools, capabilities and mindsets. Ashurst Advance continues to grow its digital team and expand its development and lab capability as part of this.
Product Management within the Digital Office is responsible for designing, developing and managing digital platforms, products and solutions, together with their curation, ownership and governance. Recent work has included creating a digital front door, subscription management and authentication portal for our clients, developing an award-winning cross-border advice tool, and consultancy for the firm and clients on GenAI strategy and governance.

Main Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to:
Defining Product Vision and Strategy
Collaborate with the Digital Office leadership, senior business owners, stakeholders, and clients to develop and communicate a clear product vision that aligns with company goals and market needs.
Leading Cross-Functional Teams
Matrix leadership of multi-disciplinary Agile Scrum teams developing and building products to ensure successful product development and launch. Review and iterate ways of working as appropriate.
Research-Led Product Development
Analyse market trends, customer feedback, user research and competitive products to identify opportunities and inform product decisions. Develop functional PoCs, wireframes and other design experiences as appropriate.
Managing Product Lifecycles
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle from ideation to launch, including prioritising features, setting timelines, and managing budgets.
Measuring and Optimising Performance
- Track product performance metrics, gather user feedback and implement improvements to enhance user experience and achieve business objectives.

Technical Expertise
- Demonstrable understanding of digital product development, agile processes and lifecycle management.
Leadership Skills
- Ability to lead and inspire a multi-disciplinary scrum team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Communication
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Analytical and Agile Thinking
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically, strategically and pragmatically. Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
Market Insight
- Understanding of market dynamics, competitor activities, emerging technologies and the role of digitisation within the legal sector.
Capabilities/Skills We Look For:
Must Have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development or management roles such as Product Manager, Product Owner, or similar positions.
Experience managing projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.
Experience conducting market research, analysing data, and understanding customer needs.
Experience leading or working with diverse teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales.
Should Have:
Experience working in a law firm or an adjacent industry.
Knowledge and interest in the evolution and transformation of the legal industry.
Knowledge and interest in data science and analytics.
Ability to absorb large amounts of information and create sense and simplicity.
Confidence and fluency in the language and tools of agile, lean and design.
Expertise and interest in generative AI and the risks and opportunities it presents in software tools and the development of those tools.
Could Have:
Experience deploying GenAI enabled products or solutions.
Familiarity with legal content and knowledge management.
Won't Have:
An aversion to getting hands dirty and training up others in your discipline!
