MARCO, a globally recognised automation and technology company and part of the ATS Group, is seeking a dynamic Junior Buyer to join our growing Procurement Team in Edenbridge. This exciting opportunity has arisen due to internal movements, making it an ideal time to become an integral part of our team.

Job Summary:

The Project Buyer will manage assigned purchases on an area or project basis, contributing to the development and implementation of sourcing strategies. Reporting to the Technical Buyer, this role creates value by ensuring efficient and cost-effective procurement processes, adhering to commercial agreements and related work processes within the specified geography and category.

Responsibilities:

Procurement Management:

• Manage and execute assigned purchases for specific areas or projects.
• Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
• Generate and manage purchase orders, ensuring compliance with company policies and project requirements.

Sourcing Strategy Development:

• Provide input into the development and implementation of sourcing strategies.
• Collaborate with the Technical Buyer to align procurement activities with strategic objectives.
• Analyse market trends and supplier capabilities to support strategic sourcing decisions.

Supplier Management:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply and competitive pricing.
• Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and quality improvements.
• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies.

Project Support:

• Collaborate with project teams to understand procurement requirements and project timelines.
• Support the Technical Buyer in managing project procurement activities.
• Provide regular updates on procurement status, potential risks, and mitigation strategies.

Communication Skills:

• Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
• Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills
• Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with staff,
• stakeholders and suppliers

IT Proficiency:

Possess IT literacy to navigate and utilise relevant software and tools in the assembly process.

Experience:

• Previous experience of working in a purchasing team preferably (but not essential) within a manufacturing environment
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a procurement or purchasing role, preferably in a project-based environment.
• Understanding of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown
• Experience of working closely with suppliers
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
• would be beneficial but not essential

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards).
• Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CIPS).
• Knowledge of manufacturing/production materials and suppliers.
