About The Role
Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a
Project Communications Officer (External) to join our Highways team based in
Grays
Within this role you'll play a crucial role in engaging and managing relationships with external stakeholders on the Lower Thames Crossing Project. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that stakeholder interests and concerns are effectively addressed and will help drive effective, transparent, and proactive communication and engagement activities with a wide range of audiences — from local authorities, landowners, and businesses to residents, community groups, and environmental bodies.
What you'll be doing
As a Project Communications Officer (External) You'll
- Support the delivery of the stakeholder and communications strategy in line with the DCO requirements and project objectives for the Roads North Contract to build and maintain strong working relationships with key external audiences
- Act as the day-to-day contact for stakeholder queries and concerns, ensuring timely and thoughtful responses that reflect the values of the project.
- Develop and maintain an effective site visit programme, identifying opportunities to showcase expertise, raise profiles and build trust with local stakeholders
- Coordinate and participate in meetings, briefings, public events and site visits for key external stakeholder groups
- Implement the project Stakeholder Engagement Plan and the Stage One Liaison Plan
- Work closely with project managers and teams to ensure stakeholder needs are integrated into project plans.
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and consultations.
- Manage the CRM System and Stakeholder Action Tracker
- Work with the Customer & Communications Lead to ensure conflicts and issues are resolved promptly and effectively
- Set up and manage systems for gathering stakeholder feedback and ensure this informs project decisions
Who we're looking for
Essential
You will have / be:
- Experience in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field
- Confident engaging with external stakeholders face-to-face
- Excellent writing, storytelling, and presentation skills
- A proactive, collaborative attitude and willingness to engage with diverse stakeholders
- Able to interpret technical information from a variety of sources and translate into simple and engaging written communications
- Team player who adapts positively to changing stakeholder demands
- A self-starter with strong organisation skills and the ability to manage conflicting deadlines
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office365 applications
- Willingness to travel as required along the route of the project
Desirable
- A higher education/industry recognised qualification in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field
- Member of CIPR, IOIC, CIM or other recognised industry body
- Experience of using graphics and or video editing software
- Experience of working on construction/civil engineering infrastructure projects
- Good understanding of the regulatory environment in construction/rail/utility industries
