If you are a seasoned, qualified, Project Manager with experience of delivering major infrastructure/commercial projects, we want to hear from you.


Our Strategic Partnerships team have a brand-new role for a Project Delivery Manager to be accountable for the development and delivery of projects across the HS2 Growth Delivery Programme. You will play an instrumental role in supporting internal and external HS2 projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.


This vital role requires someone with exceptional stakeholder engagement and management capabilities, as you will need to be able to negotiate and influence decision making, ensuring the most appropriate action is implemented and that all elected representatives, local authority officers and key stakeholders are informed and updated on relevant projects.


This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the delivery of Britain’s largest infrastructure project, enhancing connectivity for people and places across the nation. To be successful in this role you must be a proactive communicator, be able to forge and maintain effective relationships and be solution focused.


What you will be doing.

  • Actively promote and ensure an effective working relationship between Project Management resources engaged on the delivery of projects on behalf of Transport for West Midlands / West Midlands Combined Authority and all other parts of the organisation.
  • Ensure continued strategic alignment to Annual Implementation Plan monitoring and evaluating against budget, delivery timeline and to quality/assurance standards.
  • provide expert support to all relevant and related project/programme meetings ensuring all reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.
  • Manage, co-ordinate and monitor project delivery outputs of all respective workstreams through clear reporting processes.
  • Provide and apply in depth knowledge of technical project & programme delivery.
  • Provide guidance on the use of project techniques and practices in work streams in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Provide project input into the HS2 Growth Delivery Programme, developing project plans, risk registers and other related project management tools necessary.


What’s essential.

  • Experience of delivery of projects/programmes within a complex stakeholder and partnership management arrangement.
  • Experience of working a complex partnership environment and fostering excellent senior partnership relationships.
  • Manage and oversee capital and revenue project and programme development and delivery across the full range of programme functions.
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering project documentation such as project plans, risk registers and other related project management reporting tools.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of local transport policy delivery mechanism and associated political structures.
  • Detailed understanding of how to deal with communications specialist including agencies and consultancies.

Hybrid working and location.

The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane, with site visits included. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office. Please note, this is the minimum expectation.
